Bah!

Ana you have described one of the most rewarding but also most challenging parts of my job. Citizen reporters (whether they are using text, photo or video) deserve as much feedback as possible.

Regular conversation helps editors learn how to improve — for example we find out that some misunderstandings are fairly common so we can look out for them in the future.

“It also help the citizen reporters to improve. Citizen reporters are every bit as capable as professional reporters, they just lack the knowledge/experience that comes with devoting oneself to journalism as a full time career. If Mr Porcello worked in a collaborative newsroom and actually told citizen reporters the difference between information and opinion, he would find that they learn it very quickly.”
